The “How Can I Help You” Gathering

By: LegalTech Boston

Join us for an intimate gathering generously hosted by Saul Ewing, where we focus on a single, powerful question: "How can I help you?" In the dynamic world of legal innovation and technology, and as Adam Ziegler articulated in our last program, we often encounter challenges and opportunities best navigated with the support of our peers. Let’s begin 2024 with a shared commitment to discovering ways to help one another.

In this session, responding to your valuable feedback, we have incorporated another structured opportunity to foster meaningful connections among attendees.

Upon arrival, you'll receive two distinct badges. One will signify an area in which you seek assistance in 2024, while the other will showcase a skill or strength you're ready to contribute. You are not limited to these areas. Rather, these badges will inspire productive conversations on specific guidance, knowledge-sharing, select opportunities or introductions, and other creative ways to give and receive help from your peers.

Join us on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Saul Ewing and let's come together, share our aspirations, and find ways to help one another thrive.

Boston is Primed as a Global Legal Technology Influencer

The Boston legal technology community is positioned to capitalize on the city's rich resources, including its top-ranked and influential law schools, top biopharma and technology ecosystems worldwide, access to established legal institutions and lawyers, and potential for local and global impact.

Access to Global Law Firms and Legal Departments. Boston is one of the nation's top legal markets with more than 2,000 law firms, and is known for its strong legal infrastructure, diverse practice areas, and a high concentration of skilled attorneys. The city's legal market benefits from its proximity to major financial centers and industries, such as finance, healthcare, technology, and biotechnology, which provide a wide range of legal work and opportunities. Access to law firm and legal department leaders – the prominent purchasers and users of legal technology – is critical to ensuring that legaltech is designed for lawyer adoption and built to deliver client outcomes.

Top Biotech and Technology Hubs Worldwide. Massachusetts is now the number one biotech hub in the world and ranks sixth amongst the world’s technology ecosystems. (See The Growth of Biotech in Boston and Startup Genome’s 2023 Report.) Boston is also home to MassChallenge, a global non-profit organization founded in 2009 that supports early-stage startups and entrepreneurs with established presence in several international locations, including Mexico, Israel, and Switzerland. It is estimated that cumulate capital raised for MassChallenge is $11.9 billion-plus. (See 2023 PitchBook Analysis.) Combined with global research and technical powerhouses like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), it’s time for legal to tap into this thriving innovation ecosystem.

Proximity to Top-Ranked and Influential Law Schools. Boston is home to six (6) ABA accredited law schools, including: Boston College Law School, Boston University Law School, Harvard Law School, New England Law, Northeastern Law School, and Suffolk Law School. The presence of these institutions fosters a pool of talented law students and legal professionals who contribute to and benefit from the legal technology community.

Potential for Local and Global Impact. Boston's reputation as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship can attract attention from both local and global stakeholders. By establishing a legal technology community in Boston, we’re creating a platform to showcase innovative legal tech solutions, attract investment, and produce a significant impact on the local legal industry while also contributing to the broader global legal tech landscape.
