A series of short, engaging, on-demand bursts of learning addressing timely topics on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
|
“[These modules] are REALLY good – exceptionally informative. You all have tackled some pretty tough topics in a very thoughtful and respectful way. I particularly found the ‘microaggressions’ module to be nicely done – such a difficult concept and reality to tackle but you and your team have done a very fine job!” Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion AmLaw 100 Firm (name withheld per firm policy) |

Programs available in the DEI Series
Fundamentals of Inclusion
12 minutes Our firm is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace that welcomes and values diversity in all forms, provides equitable access to opportunities, and encourages a sense of belonging. To reach this goal, we need every member of our team to recognize why this is so important and join us in our commitment. In this module, we’ll introduce you to the fundamentals of diversity, equity, and inclusion and explore how we can all be more inclusive every day. |
Understanding Sex, Gender, and Identity
12 minutes We believe every individual deserves to feel respected and valued. Part of creating an inclusive environment is taking the time to learn about the things that make us “different” from others. In this module, we’ll explore how a shared knowledge of key concepts helps us lay the foundation for an inclusive work environment. We’ll specifically address the concepts of gender identity, gender expression, transgender identities, and sexual orientation. |
Understanding and Combating Microaggressions
15 minutes Understanding how microaggressions impact us as individuals and our firm as a whole is essential for fostering a respectful and inclusive environment. In this course we will explore microaggressions, the verbal and non-verbal actions that may be intentional or unintentional, and the negative impact they have on marginalized groups – and everyone in the firm. We'll also focus on how to avoid committing microaggressions and how to combat them when they do occur. |
Unconscious Bias (Part 1) - What Biases Are and Why We Have Them
10 minutes In the workplace, unconscious biases affect our ability to be an effective leader and to deliver the greatest value - for our firm and for our clients. The good news is that once we become aware that we have these biases, we can do something about them. In this two-part introduction to Unconscious Bias, you’ll explore why we have unconscious biases, common workplace biases and their implications, and how to begin interrupting your biases. |
Unconscious Bias (Part 2) - Interrupting Your Unconscious Biases
13 minutes The overarching question for each of us is not "Am I biased?" but rather "What biases do I hold and how can I interrupt them?" Unconscious biases are a part of being human and there is no way we can simply turn them off. However, there are steps that we can take to mitigate our biases and prevent them from hindering our decisions in the workplace. In this module, you’ll explore five steps you can take right now to begin interrupting your biases. |
Inclusive Communications: Elevating Your Listening Skills
9 minutes To improve the quality of your relationships, build a foundation of trust and respect, and interact with others in a way that fosters a greater sense of inclusivity, there is one fundamental rule that applies. In this module, we encourage some interactive self-reflection on your communication habits and beliefs, explore the fundamental rule of communication, and explore practical tips for putting it into practice. |
Inclusive Leadership (Part 1) - It Starts with You
12 minutes As a leader, manager, or supervisor, you have a direct impact on how respected, welcomed, and valued members of your team feel. The way you interact with them every day has a cumulative effect that either fosters an inclusive environment… or does not. In this module, the first in the Inclusive Leader series, you’ll explore why inclusive leadership matters and the role you play. |
Inclusive Leadership (Part 2) - Tweaking Your Day-to-Day Processes
15 minutes As an inclusive leader, you have the power to create an environment in which all team members feel respected and have opportunities to grow. But how do you do that without adding yet another action item to your list? In this module, you’ll explore how, by making small but impactful tweaks to your daily processes, you can be more inclusive in meetings, when assigning work, and when giving feedback. |
Inclusive Leadership (Part 3) - Addressing Non-Inclusive Behaviors
11 minutes In this module, we meet Lucila. She’s a senior associate who is committed to becoming a more inclusive team leader so her team can thrive, and so, together, they can serve the firm’s clients even more effectively. In this module, you’ll explore four situations in which Lucila decided to address non-inclusive behaviors in the moment and reflect on what lessons we can derive from them. |
Gather. View. Pause. Discuss. Enlighten.
Each learning module runs between 8 and 15 minutes in total duration, and serves as a solid foundation around which to facilitate deeper discussions on the topics addressed. Using the user-friendly step-by-step facilitator guides, each module can be leveraged into a one-hour facilitated group discussion.

Answers to frequently asked questions...
How long is each course? We are big proponents of bite-sized learning resources. Courses average about 12 minutes each. Can we have links to our policies or similar added to the courses? Yes. We can customize any element of the DEI series courses to include firm-specific information, links, resources, video, terminology, etc. Can I review the courses to see if this is a fit for our firm? Yes. Just let us know and we'll grant you temporary access to the complete DEI series of courses. Do you grant CLE credit for these courses toward the Diversity, Inclusion, and Elimination of Bias, Ethics, or similar requirements of many states? We designed the series with standard CLE requirements in mind. That said, we are not a CLE provider and do not grant CLE credit ourselves. Your firm would serve as the provider-of-record, following your standard CLE processes. Where do these courses 'live'? Do you host or do we? Our goal is to make launching DEI series courses as easy for you as possible. You have options: Host the courses on your firm's learning management system or intranet server - or let us handle hosting for you. |
